The Queen Anne Victorian house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1901 by J.L. Jensen, it was designed by architect J.H. Jeffers, who is famous for having designed the Wisconsin Exhibit for the World's Fair. Dreams of Yesteryear is located just a couple of blocks from the banks of the Wisconsin River, and a few minutes stroll from historic downtown Stevens Point, in the heart of Wisconsin.
Dreams of Yesteryear B&B has been beautifully restored and each room is decorated with antiques and Victorian style. But guests will enjoy all the modern comforts, including wireless high-speed internet and cable television.
No stay is complete without a delicious gourmet breakfast, including such delights as pecan- or strawberry-stuffed French Toast, blueberry pancakes, or eggs Benedict among other morning treats.
We invite you explore our website for an online tour of the house and guest rooms, and to learn about the attractions and events in central Wisconsin. Bonnie and Bill Maher are Stevens Point natives. They were high school sweethearts and dreamed of someday owning an historic home. One mobile home, one ranch style home, and two daughters later, they found their dream house.
Bill is the president of Maher Water Corporation, a business started in 1950 by his father. (Now you'll understand why Dreams of Yesteryear has all the latest water "gadgets" including soft water and reverse osmosis).
Bonnie is a program assistant at the Tutoring-Learning Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Bill and Bonnie have a side business in natural supplements, and every guest can try complimentary samples of Winrgy, BioLean, Sleep-Tite and other products during their stay.
Bonnie is a member of the Stevens Point Historic Design Review Commission and is a self-taught interior designer. She is well-read in Victorian design and incorporated her studies into the bed and breakfast, as you will see when you visit!
