Velog is run by your host Rose Shingler, and we offer good food cooked fresh and to your needs.
Borth-y-Gest is on the edge of the Snowdonia National park. We have lovely views of mountains and sea just a couple of minutes walk from the house.
Borth-y-Gest used to be a ship building village at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, and its harbour offered shelter from the rough seas of Cardigan Bay.
The Estuary which flows past Borth-y-Gest has sandy beaches at the foot of cliffs so offers shelter and warmth to beach lovers.
Borth-y-Gest is 5 minutes drive from Porthmadog, a lovely Victorian built town, which gives visitors a wide variety of shops, restuarants and public houses. It is also the home of the Ffestiniog and WelshHighland narrow gauge railways, which are popular with all age groups. Just 1 1/2 miles from Borth-y-Gest is the pretty village of Portmerrion, where the cult 1960's series of the Prisoner was made.
We are also close to Mt. Snowdon, all the castles in the area and lots of walks in the valleys, woods and mountains to enjoy.
Rose has run the bed and breakfast since 1996 with her husband Nigel. We came to Wales from England to get out of the rat race and have a better life, which we have found and enjoy. Rose is a warm and friendly host and nothing is too much trouble. We have a wealth of knowledge of the area and try to help our guests with information about the attractions and ammenities that they can enjoy while they stay with us.
Come and stay with us and get one of the warmest welcomes in Wales, and see why our guests return.
