Our aim is to make our guests feel welcome and comfortable throughout their stay. Set in the peaceful Welsh countryside in a place of outstanding natural beauty we are a fully licensed Bed & Breakfast with views overlooking acres of unspoiled farm and woodland. The village of Dolanog is along the route of the Glyndwr Way trail and other trails often walked by Ann Griffiths. Ann Griffiths was born in 1776 in Llanfihangel yng Ngwynfa close to Dolanog. You can include a visit to her home in one of many walks across the hills. She was a Methodist hymn writer and regarded as one of the most important female figures in the history of Welsh literature. Her hymns are still sung (as we regularly hear) in the small chapel that is dedicated to her memory built in the heart of Dolanog. The picturesque River Vyrnwy flows down beside the village. There is a charming bridge over the river with a history of its own. There are a few historic buildings including the School House, Church, Vicarage and Smithy that offer a glimpse into the historic past of the village. Look out also for the lovely waterfall just as you leave the village. The River Vrnwy features in many of the walks around this area. The Bed and Breakfast itself boasts a wealth of attractions. There is a double room with king-size bed en suite with wonderful views over the adjacent farmland and woods. The completely self-contained family suite consists of a double room that overlooks the same view as the double room and an entirely separate single room that share a private bathroom with shower. Both double rooms are equipped with a television and DVD player, complimentary tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. Plush towels and bathrobes add to the feeling of comfort and relaxation. Just one of several features we are particularly proud of is the spacious galleried landing. With its full length windows and comfortable seating area where our guests can relax, sit and watch the gently changing view, cattle and sheep in the meadows, birds at the feeders in the garden, the sun setting after a perfect day in the hills. Another unique feature is our breakfast/dining room. This room shares the same full length windows as the galleried landing area above offering the same magnificent views. Guests can enjoy the bright relaxing interior or if the weather is fine can step out through the doors from the breakfast/dining room onto a wonderful raised deck. Eat your breakfast or dinner out in the open. Relax and enjoy the sweet smelling country air; the peaceful, rural quiet; the unpolluted night sky!
We have car parking on the premises and security lighting. Breakfast is locally sourced and varied including vegetarian – just let us know. We are happy to provide home cooked evening meals and sandwiches for your day trip or hike – just let us know prior to you arrival. We are fully licensed and again happy to compliment your evening meal with beers or wines of your choice.
This is a no smoking establishment.
Please do have a look at our website and feel free to contact us for more information.
We look forward to hearing from you and to sharing our precious part of Wales
