Strete Barton House is a 16th Century Manor House set in extensive grounds in the picturesque village of Strete, near Dartmouth, Devon. Panoramic sea views across Start Bay from Start Point lighthouse to the mouth of the river Dart. Ideal to explore the South Hams and only 1 mile from the award winning beaches of Slapton and Blackpool Sands, Slapton Ley Nature Reserve and lake and the South West Coastal Path 30 metres away.
Contemporary interior; all bedrooms fitted with luxurious French sleigh beds, Egyptian cotton sheets and feather down pillows, fluffy white towels, wall-mounted flat sceen TV with DVD/CD player, radio-alarm clock, hairdryer, extensive beverage tray, mineral water and luxury French Damana toiletries. Drawing room with sofas and armchairs and open fireplace. Breakfast served in the dining room overlooking the garden. Full English breakfast is included, using local ingredients, fresh home made fruit salad and local farm yogurts. On arrival we are delighted to offer you a home-made cake and tea or coffee served in the drawing room, or on the terrace in our garden over looking the sea.
Strete Barton House is ideally situated between Blackpool Sands, and Torcross Village – with it’s beach and the Slapton Ley Nature Reserve, however it is still only 5 miles from the multi-cultural river town of Dartmouth. The sailing village of Salcombe is only 15 miles away, whilst Kingsbridge, the principal town in the South Hams, is only 12 miles to the west. Whether you are a sun worshipper or surfer, both Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands offer fantastic facilities for young and old. For the walkers there are numerous stunning coastal walks, whilst for the naturalists, there is no finer place than Slapton Ley Nature Reserve.
For the less energetic, why not enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of our walled garden, with sea and coastal views back towards the Mew Stone, at the mouth of the River Dart; this is Dartmouth accommodation at its best!
