Welcome to Dowfold House Bed & Breakfast in Crook, County Durham

Jill & Rupert (not to mention our dog and two cats...) look forward to welcoming you to this lovely, comfortable Victorian house with its delightful gardens. As a small, high-quality bed & breakfast establishment, we aim to provide a comfortable, welcoming - and peaceful - home for you to enjoy; and we do GREAT breakfasts!

Dowfold House Bed & Breakfast is in a quiet location overlooking Crook, with stunning views over Weardale as far as the North Pennines. We welcome business visitors, tourers, cyclists, walkers, dogs and children. People just keep coming back!

Comfortable beds and GREAT breakfasts
Peaceful, but not isolated
Wireless Internet connection available
Open all year
Complimentary newspaper - just ask
Children welcome - cots and third beds available
Cyclists - there are GREAT routes and we can look after your bike in secure garaging
We LOVE dogs - but we've never had more than 10 here at any one time! Our dog-secure garden is a particular feature
Walkers really enjoy Crook - lots of walks of all kinds - and we have an excellent kit drying room for those damper moments.

Handy for the Durham Dales (Weardale, Teesdale)
City of Durham is nearby, with its history, castle and WONDERFUL cathedral (ask Bill Bryson...)
A convenient base from which to explore the North East, from Holy Island (Lindisfarne) to Bishop Auckland - home to the Prince Bishops of Durham
Just off the A68, for inveterate Scotlanders
