If you are travelling to the glaciers from the North of the South Island on SHW6 then you will pass our door! Take time out from your journey for a few days, to relax and unwind at Birds Ferry Lodge. We are located 4-5 hours driving time from The Glaciers, Nelson, Picton and Abel Tasman. You will enjoy a tranquil spot with views of Mountains, Ocean and native forest. Guests are often astounded by the remote location yet we are only 15 minutes from "town". No landline, TV, or clock - just a wealth of peace seclusion and beauty.
Lodge guests enjoy sunsets from the heated spa, privately accessed ensuite guest accommodation, refreshments, laundry service, internet, cooked breakfast. 2 friendly in-house Terriers. Dinners by arrangement, include Quality New Zealand Wines. Home produced vegetables and free-range eggs are used wherever possible. Homeopathic Massage Therapy also available.
Ferry Man's Cottage enjoys the same views as the Lodge and is situated at the very end of Birds Ferry Road. Complete privacy, garden bath and all the comforts of Birds Ferry Lodge with your own kitchen and laundry facility. Sleeps 2-6
Okari Lake Hideaway - Private Lakeside country cottage. Sleeps 2-4.

"Four nights in Ferrymans Cottage Feb 08.Superb accommodation, sensational views over the forest canopy with the gentle roar of the ocean in the distance.Glorious call of the shy Bell bird.Wonderful to watch the changing weather in all its glory.Secret walks through the hidden forest trails. Total privacy but hosts only a few hundred yards away.If we had the time we would stay for four weeks next time in NZ! A must do place to stay in South Island."Pand M, New Forest UK

Beautiful setting, very comfy rooms, spotlessly clean. Gracious hosts who made us very welcome, fed us like Kings and were very helpful and knowledgeable about the local area and travelling in New Zealand. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning someday for a longer stay.

"From the minute we got here, we have enjoyed every moment. The location is unparalleled, the accommodation extremely comfortable and the sound of SILENCE wonderful. You cannot tell from an internet site just what a place will be like and the photos did not do it justice however a photo cannot capture the tranquility and beauty of the scenery here. Wish we had stayed longer."

We stayed at Birds Ferry Lodge as part of the wonderful Cape Escape package. It was like staying with friends ... friends with fluffy robes, a well-stocked pantry and a spa pool. Very relaxing, very welcoming. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay at your bed and breakfast. The room was spacious, nicely decorated, and very clean. The pizza dinner was a hit with us! Our room had wonderful views of the outdoors. We enjoyed learning how you chose your property and care for your animals and garden. We would definately return to your B and B.
