Directions From Wanaka follow SH6 to Haast & the West Coast after approx 50 km you will reach Makarora travel another 10km (approx) and you will reach Makarora West. Take a right here into Rata Road (the only road to your right) and The Homestead is 500 metres at the end of the road.

Makarora Homestead offers a secluded retreat in the midst of the Southern Alps & is perfect for travellers looking for the peace & tranquility of the mountains.
We offer our B&B guests EITHER a self-contained studio with kitchenette, ensuite & private balcony OR 2 detached bedrooms each with ensuite, tea/coffee making facilities and a sundeck.
The Homestead is available for larger groups with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and large log fire for those cooler nights. Open plan living with a large lounge & dining & a conservatory opening off the lounge. There is a gas bbq on the covered verandah, laundry facilities available in fact everything you could need for a great mountain holiday. Nestled at the edge of the native forest with panoramic views of the mountains & surrounding wapiti deer farm. Hand feed our tame deer Nigel & various friendly sheep.
