Our stay at Lesmahagow on 18th November 2008 was very disappointing. We are Kiwis who travel around NZ a lot with our consulting business. The booking was made by cell phone. We were given the McKinlay room, (the cheapest room), which was adequate and had lovely linen. The McKinlay room is advertised on NZ Tourism Guide as $100, (your site $130). All bedrooms require a long walk down the hallway to bathrooms. While relaxing in lounge we were offered a wine but said "we would prefer to have a drink with our dinner later on" ($35pp and the dinner was superb). But while sitting at the table we were then informed that we would have to buy the whole bottle of wine if we wanted a drink, (we thought Kate was offering us a glass of wine earlier on). It was a bottle that could be purchased cheap from any NZ supermarket. Have they a licence to sell liquor? While serving dinner Kate asked "if we would like a cooked breakfast", (we thought it was included in the B and B price). Our bill of $230 makes Lesmahagow our most expensive B and B to date. As there were a lot of hidden costs, cooked breakfast, buying wine, I think it is important to forewarn travelers about how expensive your stay at Lesmahagow could be.

Nicest B&B we stayed here in NZ! A B&B with "wow factor"

Kate and Noel are most hospitable people, and we felt as though we were "family" while enjoying our stay in their lovely, and very distinctive house. Having spent 5 weeks doing B and B's in New Zealand, they surely rate as one of the best!
