Absolutely our best stay in New Zealand (or anywhere, probably!). Like going to stay with your favorite aunt. We stayed in the house rather than the lodge. It was very comfortable with all the "little touches" like robes, fruit bowl, and chocolates. The bathroom was really lux as well. Great views all around the property. They have a friendly dog, cat, and farm animals. To top it off, Roz cooked up the best breakfasts on our trip! We got to feed the animals in the morning with Roz, and Don really helped us get the most out of the wine country. He pointed out the best tasting rooms for reds, and in a twist of fate was even able to get us into the monthly dinner for his wine aficionado's group. A great value on top of all that. Run, don't walk, to this fantastic BnB!

It was a great farmstay lodge but it needs either a big oven or hotplates. Cheers.

Wonderful hosts. Combined with the view the animals and the fact they run their own winery, this was one of the best breaks we have ever had.

Don and Roselyn Bird were extremely kind
and gracious hosts who made us feel
comfortable during our stay in their house,
even on Christmas day! The views from their
farm are fantastic, the breakfasts were fresh
and excellent and the animals (goats, cows,
and pigs) seemed to welcome us as well!! We
had a great time there! Highly recommended!!

Ros and Don are terrific hosts; the place is great. You have to try Wishart wine!! Ask for their recommendations for restaurants or Ros is a wonderful cook. Can't wait to go back.

Great food and accommodations! A view down the valley and out to the bay. I have stayed at B&Bs in many countries in the last 30 years and I rate this one in the top 10 B&Bs. Don't think Victorian. Think Napa Valley. Peaceful and restful family environment. But the absolute best thing about the Grange is the people. Roz always smiling, great conversation and the cooking...well, I'll lose these couple of pounds. Don, a visionary who is passionate about making wine. Its a pleasure to listen to him talk of his vision. They started the Wishart Winery a few years ago and both their whites and reds have already started hitting the mark. Great food, great wine, and great people. I highly recommend the Grange!!!

We have had a wonderful time here at the Grange. From the personal winery tour and homemade cookies and yoghurt, to the superb views across the bay from the lovely garden, everything about the Grange has been a pleasure. Don and Ros have been unstintingly generous with their time, advice, conversation and home produce (food and wine!). We stayed in a comfortble room with private bathroom in the house but also saw around the lodge which looked great fun for groups or families - two beds are reached by a ladder! It's all done out in natural wood, and is light and spacious, and Ros has provided fruit, cookies, cereals, coffee and so on. However, one potential drawback of the lodge might be that you'd not be as involved with the family, which has been a highlight of our stay. I'd recommend the Grange to any of my friends and family.
