Very friendly and welcoming. We were there less than 24hours with no expectation of having time to get to know and enjoy the local area but Barrie was so helpful that we managed to take in some local history and visit some landmarks. We enjoyed the jacuzzi bath, a greats night sleep in the lovely bedroom with doors onto the deck and garden. A great breakfast - feltlike VIPs - loved it - memorable.

Barrie and Lesley's local knowledge of eateries, history, earthquakes, wineries and community life is exactly what makes a B&B experience. The comfortable bed and generous breakfast were topped off by a wee dram. Nine out of Ten will keep them on their toes.

Lovely home, and Barrie and Lesley are wonderful hosts. We had a great time talking and learning about the local history from them. This is the perfect location from which to explore Captain Cook's landing site and view the monuments.

After five months on the road, we experienced some great home-from-home hospitality at this B&B, great food from Barrie's barbeque, and plenty samples of home-grown wine. We enjoyed a braw Scottish welcome from Leslie and a spacious bedroom with huge spa bath – also welcome after five months staying in backpackers. Lots to do in Gisborne – some gorgeous beaches, vineyard tours (ask your hosts), and interesting town history.
