Thorold Country House is the ultimate country retreat, set on 6 idyllic acres, just a 70 minute drive from Auckland. The perfect base, whether guests want to explore the Coromandel Peninsula, the spectacular walks and beaches, the Pacific Coast Highway, or simply treat themselves to luxurious, restful 'time out' by the pool. Superior accommodation, with private guest entrances, is available in the self-contained Garden Cottage. This has one queen and one twin bedroom with king single beds, expansive lounge, dining area, kitchen, BBQ area, private bathroom with separate toilet. Guests have total privacy and may self cater if desired. The Cottage overlooks the large swimming pool (10m x 5m) set in our subtropical garden oasis.<br/><br/>Luxurious homestay accommodation is also offered in the guest wing of our country home which has classic, timeless, rustic appeal. One queen and one twin bedroom, private bathroom facilities (with bath and separate shower).<br/><br/>All guest bedrooms open onto wide verandas leading to park like grounds and each room has private outdoor seating areas. Guests may relax in the lounge by the open log fire or around the pool area. <br/><br/>Breakfast may be served in our dining room, on the verandas or poolside.<br/><br/>Views extend to the Coromandel Hills and the Firth of Thames. Guests are welcome to explore the property which offers interesting walks amongst native trees and bush and meet our friendly, interactive sheep. Farm walks can also be taken on our nearby dairy farm. We have our own tennis court and there is a golf course within a few minutes drive. The local airfield offers training, scenic and glider flights. Fishing days and river trips can also be arranged.
