Ocean View Bed and Breakfast is an attractive two-storey colonial-style home with modern decor and comfortable bedrooms. It is nestled in a tranquil hillside bush setting with stunning views over the sparkling waters of the Firth of Thames. The town centre is only a ten to fifteen minute walk. Here you will find a good selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. A ten minute stroll will also take you to the coast with its board walk and bird hide, a fascinating place to while away an hour or so. The Firth attracts a great variety of shore birds, including migratory birds such as the godwit. We have flexible accommodation. On the first floor of our home there are two double rooms (queen-size beds), with shared bathroom (we only let one room at a time unless people are travelling together and are happy to share a bathroom, so they are, in effect, en-suite). On the ground floor is a fully self-contained well-equipped air conditioned apartment, with a double room (again, queen-size beds), a twin room, bathroom, full kitchen, dining and sitting areas, and its own private entrance. Children are welcome. The apartment would be particularly suitable accommodation for families. We can provide a cot for infants or a foldaway bed for older children in any of our rooms for a small extra charge. Laundering facilities are available at a small extra charge. We are a non-smoking home. A particularly attractive aspect of the property is our peaceful, beautifully landscaped garden, with many interesting areas to relax in. The garden features a pond, a blend of native and non-native plantings, a spa pool and a large deck area with guest barbecue facilities. The spa pool has been positioned to take full advantage of the sea views . A great place from which to enjoy the sunset over the Firth at the end of a long day's sightseeing. The top of the garden merges into the Coromandel Forest Park with no visible distinction between the two. You will wake to a chorus of bird song from the large number of birds attracted into the bush and garden.

This was our first B.& B. in New Zealand and during the next 3 weeks we found nothing better. Accommodation was first class and Julie & Steve were so helpful with advice about where to go and info. on the area. Steve even repaired a pair of glasses before we left. Would certainly return again.

Dear Julie and Steve, Starting our trip with you was wonderful. You were so kind to go out of your way to pick us up from the bus stop, lets us assemble and store our bikes in your garage, recommend your favourite Thai restaurant for dinner – which we loved. The breakfast you prepared was particularly delicious with unique local New Zealand produce and just the thing to fill our bellies for a day of cycling! Thank you again! Michelle and Tom.

We traveled New Zealand for 40 days, staying mainly in B & B's, and we rate Julie and Steve's Ocean View on Thames as one of the top two B & B's of our entire stay. We were warmly welcomed with refreshments upon arrival and shared a very pleasant evening chatting with Julie and Steve while enjoying the most sensational view over the water. They were warm, generous and sharing hosts and this made for a most delightful stay. Excellent value for money and highly recommended to all. Well worth a visit for the charm of the hosts, the view, the great bed and the fabulous breakfast!
