Lyttelton Harbour and the Port Hills create a dynamic panorama you can enjoy from our custom-built log chalet. Rowena speaks Japanese (but is a Kiwi) and Max speaks German. We are both self-employed (woodworker and shadow puppeteer) and enjoy sharing a sail on Max's yacht. Rowena can share her fibrecrafts by helping to create something or showing how it is done. Our pet cats, alpacas,cows and sheep, welcome guests enthusiastically. Whether relaxing on the veranda at Max's hand-crafted table or sipping wine in the spa bath, we are sure you will make good memories.

We (8 of us) stayed at Bergli in late June on the way to our son's wedding. Our experience could not have been better. The view was awesome, the hiking wonderful, the food and accomodations superb and the companionship with our hosts was like visiting old friends. Thanks Bergli for being one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand.

We had the most wonderful time in your serene environment. We appreciated the effort which went into the fresh baked bread and muffins for breakfast. The vegetarian meal was superb and the colour co-ordinated rooms were extremely nice to stay.
