Waimakriri Lodge is a large purpose built home which has a four bedroom guest wing with a seperate lounge,a cosy open fire in the winter and dining room.
The lodge is set among 27acres of land . A large lawn and garden area which the guests are free to wander around. A sunken courtyard area with outdoor spa that is great to spot stars on clear evenings while having a wine if you wish.Or pop over the fence to the adjascent 18hole golf course one of the finest country clubs in the area with spectacular views of the Waimakariri River.Take a short leisurely stroll down to the river approx 5-10mins where there is all year round trout fishing or Salmon fishing during the spawning season,or maybe take an exciting spin up the river with 1 of 4 jetboat tours operating on the river.Horse riding lessons or treks just minutes away from the Lodge.6 ski-fields within 1 -1 1/2 hrs drive fantastic !Great cafes and restruants close by and great walkings tracks for all levels of fitness.Trans-Alpine scenic train ride a mere 5kms away will take you to the West Coast and return in the same day if you wish or stop over at Greymouth for the night and explore the town and surrounding area, returning to the boarding village of Springfield the next day its your choice. There are many choices of activities close-by the Lodge,you could make it a base and take day trips exploring the surrounding area.The Lodge has a very restful feel to it ,there is the turret that offers a 360deg view of the superb mountains and the property.The near-by township of Oxford has lots to offer and is home to NZ renowned cook jo Seager who has a cafe/cook school and kitchen supply shop.Designer clothes came be found at Jaks,unique gifts /books at Emmas.We are from a rural background,enjoy the outdoors ,hunting/fishing /gardening /hiking/music/shows.
