LUXURY B&B. Exclusive accomodation and fine dining.
Built in 1912, to grand proportions, this homestead is blended into the landscape by rambling mature gardens, which create the feel of a colonial outpost. To quote from the guest book: 'Gunyah is an experience, an atmosphere, and a feeling you will long to capture.' The integrity of the architecture has been retained and displays fine examples of wood panelling, exposed beams and leadlight windows, which indicate the style of the period. The bedrooms, all with en suites and elegantly decorated, are all upstairs, some with direct access to the verandah with its views over lawn and trees to the hills beyond. Gunyah specialises in gourmet country cuisine utilising the best of Canterbury produce and locally grown organic vegetables where possible. The four course dinners, French or Italian inspired, can include Canterbury lamb, salmon, venison, game or fish, complimented by fine New Zealand wines form the cellar (if required) – Desserts are to die for.
What a civilised way to slow down. Local activities include fishing, skiing, golf and jetboating but just being there is an experience in itself. At Gunyah you will feel perfectly relaxed in gracious surroundings with truly stylish accommodation and fine dining.
