A one-off, low-energy, open-plan home with just one guest room which has twin beds and bunks permitting 4 persons to stay. It follows then that your party plus your hosts will be the only occupants. This is not a conventional guest-house and we like to feel that staying with us is an equally unconventional experience, more akin to being a house guest with friends rather than a customer who rents a room. You will be invited to use the ground floor lounge areas, watch TV, access the Internet either through Wi-Fi or by borrowing one of our desktop machines. The outdoor wood-fired sauna is free of charge.

Lochinver village is only 1 km away and has several good eating places ranging from good-quality pub-grub to Michelin starred seafood restaurant. 5km away is Achmelvich beach ... astounding pristine white sand. Handa Island bird reserve, Sandwood Bay, Cape Wrath and Smoo Cave lie to the north.

Your hosts Mike & Margaret Rochester retired early from teaching in 2004 and moved to this house which they designed and site-managed themselves. Published in 'Build It' magazine January 2006, the house has been cited as an exemplar of good practice by regional planners. Prospective self-builders are welcome to come and pick their brains!

Daily weather forecasts are provided and, having a 30 year experience of the area, your hosts will advise on things to do / places to go to make the best of your stay both in advance by email or when you arrive.

The site which has rocks and water features is deemed unsafe for very small children so we ask that under 8's do not stay. Young people are charged as adults. We regret that for sound business reasons we do not accept solo travellers. The £55 fee above is for 2 adults for 1 night, this is reduced to £50 for stays in excess of 1 night.
