Monivea Bed and Breakfast  - Reviewed by Cher Skoubo
Navigating from British Columbia’s Vancouver Island by ferry we arrived at Salt Spring Island, staying three days at the Monivea Bed-and-Breakfast. John and Wendy O’Brien-ffrench, hosts and owners, welcomed us as we drove up the drive, gave us a quick tour of our room-with-private-entrance and the landscaped gardens, and thus began an enchanting discovery of the island’s many charms and nuances. Salt Spring Island is part of Canada’s Gulf Islands, just a little further north than the U.S. San Juan Islands, which are in fact all part of a single archipelago. The names change at the U.S./Canada border rather than due to geological feature. Like all of these islands, Salt Spring enjoys a Mediterranean climate, giving claim to Canada’s longest frost-free growing season. The island hosts organic orchards and farms, supplying bountiful produce to farmer’s markets, roadside stands and local four-star restaurants. Each morning John and Wendy prepared a gourmet breakfast with lush berries and fresh eggs from their own chickens. They were great hosts—attentive to our needs while respectful of our privacy. Tell them of your interests and they’ll suggest a range of island experiences and landmarks for you. We explored the fragrant Sacred Mountain Lavender Gardens, relaxed along the shore at Ruckle Provincial Park, and enjoyed the animals and goat cheese at Salt Spring Island Cheese, Company. Salt Springs is home to an eclectic mix of artists, woodworkers, potters, craftspeople, musicians and nature lovers. The island is only 74-square miles, equipped with a rental car, it was easy to get around. At Monivea B&B, the rooms are cozy and clean, the gardens colorful and charming. Everywhere you look there is a new discovery…a sculpture, lotus blossom, fountain or trail. They even have their own art gallery, the Monivea Artisan Garden Gallery, with artwork by John and Wendy, Conrad O’Brien-ffrench and other local artists. I bought a number of smaller prints and cards. Their gallery offers art classes, and is included in the Salt Spring’s self-guided studio tour with 32 stops all along the island, showcasing fine art paintings, sculpture and glasswork to handmade crafts by local artisans. We were impressed with the great restaurants on this island—our favorite being House Piccolo and Hastings House. Most of all, it was the care and hospitality of John and Wendy that made this an exceptional visit. We highly recommend Monivea B&B to others and are already making plans to visit again!

Bayview Pines Country Inn  - Reviewed by Jacqualine Mueller
The very first time we arrived at the Bayview Pines Country Inn it was already dark and it was foggy and raining and we would only stay for one night. But then in the morning not only the sun, even Chris and Joanna gave us a warm and friendly welcome. And the view over the bay was just incredible. After having delicious homemade pancakes and homemade jam with toast, we decided to stay for another 3 nights and ever since we are going back almost every year. It is always a highlight for us, because it is situated on the most beautiful spot out at Indian Point. Never mind the 5 minutes drive to Mahone Bay it's anyway worth it. We wish you, Chris & Jo, a very good year with lots of bookings and we will be back as soon as we can. All the best the Swissgirls

My family and I had a wonderful overnight experience at Tranquil Thyme B&B. The place had a 5star hotel feel as the bed was comfortable, luxurious bathroom amenities , clean and fresh towels linens and the overall ambiance of the place especially since it has a clear view of the water and the mountains. Will recommend the place if you want to have a quiet and relaxing escape.

A la Decouverte B&B  - Reviewed by Merrybeth and Pat
My husband and I spent part of our 20th anniversary trip in Quebec City, and are so very happy that we chose Nathalie and Paul's lovely A la Découverte for our visit. The B&B exudes warmth and charm -- just like its hosts! The home's common areas and guest rooms are inviting and tastefully appointed, the breakfasts are scrumptious, and the location is terrific. It's obvious that a lot of thought and care was taken in the creation of this B&B, and that consideration is also evident in the very enjoyable interactions with its hosts. We wholeheartedly recommend A la Découverte to anyone planning a visit to Quebec City! - Merribeth & Pat , Minnesota, USA July 2010

A la Decouverte B&B  - Reviewed by Caitlin
My husband and I spent three nights (June 2010) with Nathalie and Paul and absolutely enjoyed our stay. Our room was comfortable, attractive, and nicely appointed, we were walking distance from everywhere, and the breakfast was an excellent start to the day - especially Nathalie's chocolate walnut bread! Nathalie was a wonderful host and even sent us on our way with some freshly baked croissants for our long train ride. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone. - Caitlin, from Vancouver, BC June 2010
