Ninderry Manor Luxury B&B
- Reviewed by Jin Jirrie
We have stayed at Ninderry Manor several times and adore the relaxing views, the wildlife and most of all, the delicious food! Not sure what the previous reviewer is waffling about, because our room has never been invaded by the hosts while we are staying there, we never make our beds, and tend to leave our suitcases on the floor. I can't recommend Ninderry Manor highly enough. Anyone who hasn't experienced it, is missing out. The massages for two are to die for, the tea ceremonies elegant, calligraphy is highly entertaining and we've even done cooking classes there too! |

Hill Top Farm

I really enjoyed staying at Hill Top Farm. I have stayed in Cooktown before but wanted to explore the amazing country around the town. Hill Top Farm was a great base and Wendy was so helpful with local information. Went to lots of lovely bush walks and enjoyed relaxing at the cabin watching the sunsets and seeing so many stars. |

You cannot beat the location of this B&B. The ocean views are suberb and you sleep to the sounds of the waves. The room was extremely comfortable and we were offered warm hospitality by our hostess and her family and nothing was too much trouble. We spent time relaxing by the pool and taking in the spectacular view. Would highly recommend and one not to missed! |

Toby's Retreat at Holloways Beach

Five days of pure fun! Toby's Retreat was the best B&B I've ever been to. I just can't believe I have to go. The hospitality was great. First time in Tropical North Queensland but won't be the last. And will only stay in one place ... Toby's Retreat. Thanks for everything. |

Billabong Bed & Breakfast
- Reviewed by Barb Fox
Wonderful caring hosts & and the most stunning location. We felt at home right away but with all of the trimmings. We were offered & accepted of course a wine and cold beer on arrival, what a start after being in the car all day and within 5 minutes we were sitting on our porch over the water looking at the bird life and enjoying a cold well deserved drink. Vicky was a wealth of information and helped with different day trips and gave us tips on where to eat and where not to eat. The location though is spectacular. It is surrounded by water and the birdlife is fabulous and lovely bright pink, blue and white lilies adorn the lake. We struggled to leave our porch it was so peaceful and enjoyable. The breakfasts were fabulous and Vicky surprised us everyday with different fruits & cereals and a lovely cooked breakfast if we wanted. We also liked Holloways Beach, it is a local beach , very quiet but lovely sand and life guards on duty and a little cafe right on the beach. We could not have asked for more and it exceeded our expectations. |

Montrave House B&B Home & Pet Stay
- Reviewed by Bill Lauenstein
My wife and I stayed at this establishment from the 1st to the 3rd August, we have the following concerns. There was no keys given to our room, which we had to leave unlocked when absent No key for the premises was supplied. Rather than contact us to give details of the key they left out, they phone the people who referred us to them and left a message with their 20 year son, which was not relayed sufficiently to enable us access We were “lucky” enough to have been able to access our room via the UNLOCKED door from our room that is used to access the bathroom On our arrival they made a fuss about someone having booked by email, but they overlooked it. On checking our email records, they never in fact confirmed the booking or gave us any information about the place. (it had been referred to us by a friend) The proprietor’s were saying that despite having 4 rooms, they like to only book one as the walls are thin. If this is the case, why do they even have 4 rooms? To gain access to the toilet and bath room, we had to gain entry via an open balcony This door was extremely stiff and difficult to operate, and made excessive noise to get open. The toilet and bathroom were unsecured at night The main bath room had a very small shower, the size was so restrictive that you could not bend down safely to wash your feet without pushing on the side walls The toilet in the bathroom was loose from its fixings, as were the toilet seat. All fittings within the bathroom and toilet were of a poor non-commercial standard The bath room was not ventilated The toilet was not ventilated There were no bath robes supplied despite having to pass through a shared area to access the shared bathroom. The establishment had a ducted air conditioning system that was either turn off or when turned on was either too cold or too warm, when in operation it felt stuffy with poor air quality On the Friday night, my wife had to wear a thermal singlet in bed to stay warm On the Saturday night it was very warm when we went to bed, and extremely cold in the room when we woke up. This played havoc with my wife’s hay fever. Inadequate on site parking, unsecured and with no security lighting No lighting on the stairs, my wife tripped down the stairs in the dark. In brief this was a well below industry standard bed and breakfast and can only assume that it is being operated without the correct licenses and permits, indicated by the fact that the establishment only accepts cash. |

Tinaroo Haven Holiday Lodge
- Reviewed by Christof and Katharina
We loved to stay in Tinaroo Haven Lodge again very much. What a pleasure to be in Tinaroo Havens Lodge at last ! What a nice welcome to see the fridge is stuffed - we had been shopping at Smithfield just to be prepared. We especially liked the fresh fruit platter. Inside Tinaroo Haven Lodge was mostly as we remembered it to be 7 years ago (Back then, we liked the huge table made from mango wood so much, that Collin recommended the craftsmen in Tinaroo Waters to us. He made a smaller one for us that we actually took home with us). The architecture, the grounded wooden floors, the spaciousness of the living room, the balcony looking into the trees and over the grass with all the wildlife - wonderful. We and our kids loved it, we especially enjoyed watching the wallabies (the kids were frantic), kookaburras and possums as well as breakfast and dinner on the balcony (we used the barbecue twice). We did see far more than on our last visit. We made day trips to Kuranda three times (Koala Garden (very good), Skyrail (outstanding again, just like 7 years ago), Safari Park(very good) an to the Waterfall Circuit (Millaa Millaa is still as good as in our memories, or even better), had a swim in the pool in Atherton (very interesting, not a tourist destination, so we saw a bit of the "typical" life) and visited the coffee works in Mareeba (great, our kids tasted chocolate beans in heaps!) on our departure. Our host Vicky and Ted surpassed over and beyond the call of duty in the hospitality during our stay at Billabong. The Billabong is uniquely different from the moment the gates open. It is truly a feast for the eyes, it's a beautiful serene paradise. Vicky prepares the most amazing and decadent breakfasts that are out of this world. |
