My wife and I stayed at this establishment from the 1st to the 3rd August, we have the following concerns. There was no keys given to our room, which we had to leave unlocked when absent No key for the premises was supplied. Rather than contact us to give details of the key they left out, they phone the people who referred us to them and left a message with their 20 year son, which was not relayed sufficiently to enable us access We were “lucky” enough to have been able to access our room via the UNLOCKED door from our room that is used to access the bathroom On our arrival they made a fuss about someone having booked by email, but they overlooked it. On checking our email records, they never in fact confirmed the booking or gave us any information about the place. (it had been referred to us by a friend) The proprietor’s were saying that despite having 4 rooms, they like to only book one as the walls are thin. If this is the case, why do they even have 4 rooms? To gain access to the toilet and bath room, we had to gain entry via an open balcony This door was extremely stiff and difficult to operate, and made excessive noise to get open. The toilet and bathroom were unsecured at night The main bath room had a very small shower, the size was so restrictive that you could not bend down safely to wash your feet without pushing on the side walls The toilet in the bathroom was loose from its fixings, as were the toilet seat. All fittings within the bathroom and toilet were of a poor non-commercial standard The bath room was not ventilated The toilet was not ventilated There were no bath robes supplied despite having to pass through a shared area to access the shared bathroom. The establishment had a ducted air conditioning system that was either turn off or when turned on was either too cold or too warm, when in operation it felt stuffy with poor air quality On the Friday night, my wife had to wear a thermal singlet in bed to stay warm On the Saturday night it was very warm when we went to bed, and extremely cold in the room when we woke up. This played havoc with my wife’s hay fever. Inadequate on site parking, unsecured and with no security lighting No lighting on the stairs, my wife tripped down the stairs in the dark. In brief this was a well below industry standard bed and breakfast and can only assume that it is being operated without the correct licenses and permits, indicated by the fact that the establishment only accepts cash.
